299 Airwaves Aros Open

Dreesbach, Aros --- Aros
strikes back, and splits the spoils with Westria!
After the somewhat disappointing showing
of the Aros golfers at last week's
Arthorus Classic, they were back in full
strength for their national open, the
Airwaves Aros Open, which finished with
the fourth round today in Dreesbach.
This tournament was the last to play one's
way onto the Golden Chalice team, and
local hero and top favorite Shaul Disbach
took full advantage today, playing a
most impressive final round to take the
win and qualify outright for the Chalice
matches.
"I am thrilled to win on home soil, and
especially since it means also playing my
way onto the team", Disbach said, "I was
close to the top-10, and needed to make
something happen, because I could not
rely on being a captain's pick, with so many
excellent players out there. I hope
that Aros' winning ways will continue at the
Chalice!"
Disbach was referring to coming up ahead
of Westrian Valdemaar Oostingverde, who
turned in another super finish to place
second just a week after winning the
Artorus Classic. "I came close again.
Right now I am in the groove, and watch
out at the matches!", Oostingverde remarked.
The second prize money now makes him
a top favorite for the Order of Merit
title.
The unusual final leader board featured
only Westrians and Aros, which has never
been seen on this very international tour.
The top-8 places were taken by players
from these two nations! Best "other"
was Guwimith's Iro, in 9th.
Aros Mark Krall, who was playing in the
final round with compatriot and winner
Disbach, had a most disappointing round
of 76, 4 over on the front nine, to fall
out of contention early. Westrian
Joshua Klagstein finished well, the 120,000
crowns doing his Chalice team chances
no harm.
Grand Duke Mathew VI of Lamb's Cove once
again played for charity purposes, but
again missed the cut - nevertheless, his
appearance raised about 55,000 crowns in
donations and merchandise sales - a very
nobel effort by the nobleman!
