BRISTOL, LAMB'S COVE -- Aros
Golden Chalice team member Shaul Disbach caused a
sensation on Monday by winning the Cove
Air Bristol Classic in Lamb's Cove in a
sudden death playoff ahainst Larry Tahoma
of Christiana. Disbach, who won last
week's Airwaves Aros Open, becomes the
first player to win more than one
tournament on the IGT, and he did it back-to-back,
and also importantly right
before the Golden Chalice Matches begin,
which serves strong notice to the
Westrian Realm!
Disbach played consistent rounds all throughout
the tourney dispite the numerous
weather delays. The first round
was almost completely rained out, and the field
was playing catch-up ever after.
The cut was only made on Saturday, and on
Sunday, organizers had to try to squeeze
in the two final rounds - they almost
succeeded. The last 5 pairings
did not make it into the club house before dark,
and had to return on Monday morning.
After regulation play, Tahoma and Disbach
were tied at the top.
Tahoma, usually one of the straightest
drivers on Tour, missed the fairway right
on the first playoff hole, leading to
bogey, which left Disbach to win with a safe
par. The Aros is now the new superstar
of the IGT, and all eyes will be on him in
this week's Golden Chalice, in which he
will likely be paired with fellow Aros
Patrick Coulfax for the fourballs and
foursomes Friday and Saturday.
Not many other Chalice participants showed
great form the week before the
competition, with only Oliver Straswell
also making the top-10.
