299 GOLDEN CHALICE, presented by Damond & Dermot
International Tournament Player's Club of Westria, Bella Fronteritz, Westria

The Burovian Realm team overcame a seemingly impossible 4-point deficit in a miraculous
recovery Sunday, winning 8 and a half points for the required total of 14 and a
half to take the inaugural Golden Chalice away from an International side which
had humbled the host team with their great team play on Friday and Saturday.

The Internationals looked like the sure winners Sunday morning, needing only 4 and
a half out of 12 possible points to pull off the victory, and to take the Chalice
on foreign soil - which would have been a real achievement.  However, the
Realm rallied with incredible force, and essentially overpowered their
opponents, winning the first six matches in rather convincing fashion, taking off
all the pressure, and putting it squarely back on the Internationals.  With only
Gnorelia, McGurk and Disbach winning for the International team, it was not
enough.  Despite all odds, the Realm managed the almost impossible,
sending their opponents home with hanging heads.  It was an incredibly suspenseful
competition, with many matches turning in fortunes several times.  The close
margin shows that both teams have tremendous skill.  Who knows what may happen
next year, when it will be played outside the Realm, and the Realmers
will miss their home advantage!
