300 Petrochemica United
Territories Open

GLEN INNES, UNITED TERRITORIES
--- Juan Miguel Schwatz of Deucoland was the surprise winner of the Petrochemica
United Territories Open, but that still wasn't the main story of the tournament,
neither was it the biggest surprise.
Instead, the instant competitiveness of
the Davenportian golfers who had just
turned pro last week after distinguished
amateur careers in Davenport, and the
emerging of two little-known Namurians
were the stories creating the biggest buzz.
Of particular interest were Davenportians
John Cates, who actually led most of the
tournament before stumbling on the last
5 holes (a combined 3 over par, still
shooting a 71), and Landon Parsley, who
shot a solid 68 in the final round, both
tieing for second. The Davenportian
who was expected to make the biggest impact,
Philippe Larocquette, did not earn a top
place, but ended on -2, tied with his
compatriot Nickerson.
Namuria had its best day on the IGT yet,
with Rugro Bilau continuing his good form
and quest for the Rookie of the Year title,
and Edig Drenner, who to date had not
earned a single crown, both tieing the
Davenporters for second. Zartanian Michael
DuBraal was also in the mix in the tie
for second. Behind this group, a selection
of underachieving Westermarcians - Subhas
Sunilam, who is far from last year's
form, but perhaps is mounting a comeback,
and the unknown Katschingg and
Champlain, who have done nearly nothing
on tour so far.
But the winner is Deucoland's Juan Miguel
Schwartz, who solidly shot all 4 rounds
in the sixties, and is the first Deuco
player to win on the IGT.
"It got real close there for a while",
Schwartz said, referring to the short time
when no less than six players were tied
for the lead, and six more were within two
shots, "I tried to keep my cool, and this
time, I was able to swollow it all down
and get the job done."
"I just tried not to make any mistake,
and instead let the other guys test their
nerves."
"I am ecstatic about the win... it is an
honor to be the first Deuco winner on the
IGT."
Schwartz turned around his season, in which
he had to date won only less than
95,000 Crowns.
<TECH>I honestly intended to bring in
the Davenportians sensibly, but with some
good initial successes... except for Laroquette,
who got Ernie Els. Parsley was
Chalmers and Cates was Lowery, and by
coincidence, these two good-average players
did really well, giving Davenport a real
great start! :) Utanian debutants didnt
do "too" bad either :)</TECH>
