300 Klagstein Montroy Invitational
Klagstein Lakes Country Club, Montroy, Westria

MONTROY, WESTRIA -- Philippe Larocquette felt he would need a few early birdies on Sunday to give himself a chance to win the Klagstein Montroy Invitational. Turns out a late bogey by Pancho McFeeley didn't hurt, either.

Larocquette did his part with birdies on Nos. 1, 6, 8 and 9 and a front-side 31. He pulled away for good with a birdie at the 15th hole, then saw his much-anticipated first IGT victory assured when McFeeley made bogey at No. 17 to fall two strokes back.

"It was important for me to get off to a quick start," said Larocquette, who earned a
whopping $900,000 Christiana Crowns for his efforts. "If I could get off to a quick start and force McFeeley to make birdies to keep up rather than to pull away, that was going to be the critical factor."

McFeeley, who had started the day tied for the lead with Valdemar Oostingverde, caught
Larocquette with a birdie at the 12th hole after the Davenporter dropped back to 12 under with a bogey on No. 13. The tie was short-lived, however, as the birdie at the 15th gave Larocquette the cushion he needed when McFeeley was unable to match the feat.

"That turned out to be the critical shot," Larocquette said. "[No.] 15 was a par 5 that
Pancho is going to have iron into. He is going to make 4 99 times out of 100, and I needed to make 4.

"To make that one and force him to make birdie to tie is a lot different than forcing him to make birdie for a one-shot lead."

Larocquette saw his one-shot lead double two holes later when McFeeley bogeyed No. 17.
That swing meant Pancho would have to ace the difficult par-3 18th to force a playoff.

"If I could have driven the ball a little better today, I felt like I could have put a
little bit more pressure on Philippe, but that wasn't the case,"McFeeley said. "I just
tried to Band-Aid as best as possible."

The bleeding became critical when Pancho's drive on No. 17 found a fairway bunker and his ball wound up with sand on its right side. As a result McFeeley had to change his swing to more of a sweeping motion and he caught the ball fat. The ball flew the green and landed under a fallen branch. He managed to get the ball on the green from there but two-putted for a 5.

"That was the main thing -- just get the ball on the green and from there try and make a
putt and save it somehow," McFeeley said. "It just didn't happen."

"He is a very tough front-runner as his record shows," said Larocquette,  "He's an
unbelievable player and I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to play against
him this week and for both of us to play well and be in contention."

Oostingverde dropped out of contention with a 3-over 73 Sunday that knocked him back to
7-under 273, six strokes off the pace. Sharing third place with Oostingverde were Order of Merit leader Matthias Rothies, Jr. and Atland's Pit Norling, who had final rounds of 67 and 69, respectively.
