Nithz went from third place to the win with a 3-under-par 69 in windy 
conditions Sunday at the Trinka Nuss Desert Classic. He was three 
strokes better than Pancho McFEELEY and Landon PARSLEY. 

"This is one that I wanted more than anything," Nithz said. "I've 
been close here last year, so close and yet so far, so this is really 
good. I knew it would be tough. Today, it helped to be packed with 
patience." 

Nithz started the final round two strokes behind McFeeley, who was 
trying to regain his own winning ways.

Nithz, who earned $612,000 Christiana Crowns for his third TOUR 
victory, finished with a 10-under 278 total on the challenging East 
Otago Country Club layout. 

The relentless hot and dry desert wind bothered the golfers once 
again. The cumulative average of 73.178 was one of the highest on 
TOUR this year. 

"Whoever was in control of the wind had it turned all the way up," 
Nithz said. "It tests your nerves and what you have inside of you. 
You can't put it on cruise control and go to sleep." 

Parsley shot a 73, and McFeeley had a disappointing 74. Sedg COSWYN 
(69) and David HAVRILLAK (69) were another stroke back at 282. 

Nithz avoided big trouble when he hit his second shot in the water on 
No. 7, but made a long-range putt to get a bogey. 

"That (bogey) was the turning point for me," he said. "I could have 
come away with my confidence damaged but I felt great." 

Nithz said the wind betrayed him on No. 7. 

"I thought I'd hit a perfect shot with a nice 8-iron," Nithz said. "I 
thought it was going to be about 1 foot (from hole) and then the wind 
died and it dropped from the sky." 

Nithz birdied No. 8 and made a 15-foot birdie putt on No. 10 for a 
two-shot lead over McFeeley. 

Nithz bogeyed the par-5 15th hole, leaving him with a one-shot 
advantage. McFeeley missed an 8-foot birdie putt on the hole. 

McFeeley bogeyed No. 16, and Nithz pounced on the chance with a 
birdie on No. 17. 

"For three days I hit the ball pretty poorly but I got it around," 
McFeeley said. "And then today, I actually hit the ball pretty well 
and just didn't capitalize on any of the opportunities." 

Nithz attacked the wind immediately with birdies on his first two 
holes to reach 9 under and take the lead from McFeeley, who had 
bogeys on Nos. 2 and 3. Nithz never lost the lead after that. 

Parsley had two bogeys and a double bogey on the front nine and made 
the turn four shots behind Nithz. He had four birdies over the final 
nine holes, but bogeyed the final hole for the tie with McFeeley. 

Parsley ran into trouble quickly with bogeys at Nos. 4 and 8 and he 
double bogeyed No. 9 after missing a short putt. 

"I'd like to win another major," Nithz said. "I felt really confident 
out there today. I never felt like I was losing it inside and those 
are qualities that it takes to win a major."
