IWK A CHANGED TEAM, SHOCK ACHENAR!

Who ever remembered the IWK team we saw in the Nuropia 300 VexCup (and, let's face it, there was not much to remember!) today saw a totally different team.  The
Kukurians were looking fresh from the getgo and never really came close to looking like they would not advance against a tired looking Achanari squad who just could
not seem to get up to speed, and who failed to capitalize on their goal before the break to build some momentum by probing into the at times porous IWK defense.
Instead, the Banana Warriors made it look easy and pulled out a big win to make it to the main rounds, where they will however have to face... Westria!

Game 514: Lombriga - Oost-Otago (8-16-301):

Red cards: none
Substitutions: Stivan for Cigret (LOM, 30.), Meridion for Kurvan (LOM, 33.),
Pfitschipfeil for Torrent (OOO, 69.)

LOMBRIGA STARTS FAST, FADES FASTER!

In the battle of the Burovian soccer minnows, Oost-Otago had the last laugh, as they bounced back from a 0-2 deficit to overcome the increasingly careless and
injury-stricken Lombrigans.  The Rams were quick out of the blocks, leading by two after 25 minutes, but then lost their key players Cigret and Kurvan within 5
minutes to injury, one after a foul from Adelbert (OOO).  Without their stalwarts, the Lombrigans had trouble re-focusing and building up flow, made too many
careless mistakes, and the Desert Rats subsequently took over the match to score four unanswered goals and win the match to make it to the main event, where they
will face the Lexicon Islands!

Game 515: Lamb's Cove - Kongren Republic (8-16-301):

The Technical Information:

Final score: LAMB'S COVE 5 - KONGREN REPUBLIC 0
Played in: Scandlon Field, Wyannoch University, Lamb's Cove
Attendance: 22,500
Referee: Ivo Jarsendar (NAM)
Goals: Kraft (LCP, 5.), Maxwell (LCP, 17.), Ellison (LCP, 19.), Camara (LCP, 66.), Camara (LCP, 72.)
Yellow cards: G'Ni (KON, 5.), R. Greene (LCP, 59.)
Red cards: none
Substitutions: Camara for Johnson (LCP, 45.), Farley for Putnam (LCP, 45.), G'Nadianadia for G'Negg (KON, 53.)

HOME TEAM WOWS FANS WITH RECORD WIN!

The Lamb's Cove team today found itself in a somewhat unfamiliar position: favored to win a soccer match!  Playing at home against the still shaky ensemble of the
Kongren Republic, Lamb's Cove celebrated a soccerfest with their highest ever win in IVEFA history.  The Geckos proved little match against the hosts who were
energized by a sellout crowd, and wasted little time in making it perfectly clear who was in control.  The Kongren bounced back after the initial shock, but 0-3
down, their cause was pretty much lost by then, and Lamb's Cove's astonishing new talent Gary Camara, who replaced Johnson in the second half, put on the
exclamation mark with a double to end at 5-0, with Lamb's Cove now having to face the mighty Bowdanians in the first round of the main tourney!

Game 516: Solanchatka - Guwimith (8-17-301):

The Technical Information:

Final score: SOLANCHATKA 4 - GUWIMITH 0
Played in: Scandlon Field, Wyannoch University, Lamb's Cove
Attendance: 10,100
Referee: Wulfgang Schwarzenberg (ALB)
Goals: Sigayac (SCK, 40.), Duran (SCK, 55.), Hradilek (SCK, 69.), Sarrez-Aziro (SCK, 91.)
Yellow cards: Placidy (SCK, 22.), Ontomanko (GUW, 29.), Flautenge (SCK, 39.), Prostokisha (GUW, 80.)
Red cards: Znaleslav (GUW, 60.)
Substitutions: Slavochka for Koshkodai (GUW, 45.), Van Zaandt for Duran (SCK, 73.), Shashana for Sigayac (SCK, 73.)

SOLANCHATKA SURPRISINGLY CLEAR WINNER!

Many thought this would be a close match, but not so... Solanchatka, after an initial period under heavy pressure from their opponents, played themselves into
the picture beginning in the late first half, having dodged a few bullets, and rode the momentum into the second half.  When Guwimith went a man down as the
match stood 0-2, their fate was pretty much sealed: the Strikers struck hard against their numerically challenged opponents, and scored two more for an
astonishing 4-0 win that puts them into the first round, but having to face a mighty opponent: Whitlam!

Game 517: Baben Bay - Udan-Woo (8-17-301):

The Technical Information:

Final score: BABEN BAY 4 - UDAN-WOO 3, IN OVERTIME
Played in: Scandlon Field, Wyannoch University, Lamb's Cove
Attendance: 12,300
Referee: George Caplick (UNT)
Goals: Tregikuan (WOO, 29.), Nudzmanshvili (BOB, 38.), Wadroblis (BOB, 50.), Tungatalum (WOO, 60.), Muvriak (BOB, 69.), Wonamini (WOO, 73.), Muvriak (BOB,
116.)
Yellow cards: Grussadze (BOB, 29.), Lutziffer (BOB, 60.)
Red cards: none
Substitutions: Igles for Grussadze (BOB, 62.), Kunenga for Yarraguana (WOO, 73.), Tschimberling for Keffruh (BOB, 93.), Teritehau for Tipulura (WOO, 93.)

BABEN BAY FANS GET WHAT THEY WANTED... EVENTUALLY!

With thousands of traveling fans having made the cross-strait journey from Baben Bay to support their beloved Sentries, the Delgamians were heavy favorites to beat
the last-ranked Wallabies.  However, the match was an even Steven , with seesaw scoring, and went all the way into overtime until Baben Bay finally gained their
deliverance and the approval of their loyal fans who had been impatiently waiting, when Baben Bay's Gronkian immigrant Stojko Muvriak found the goal in the 116.
minute, ending the hopes of Udan-Woo to finally pull out a win.  The Sentries will now have to face off in the first round with their fellow Delgamians, Eastern
Delgamia!

Game 518: Deucoland - Afrazure Altlandique (8-17-301):

The Technical Information:

Final score: DEUCOLAND 3 - AFRAZURE 0
Played in: Scandlon Field, Wyannoch University, Lamb's Cove
Attendance: 10,700
Referee: Jose Miguel O'Gorman McGurk (SPA)
Goals: Inglis (DEU, 56.), Sandoz (DEU, 79.), Evangelista (DEU, 88.)
Yellow cards: none
Red cards: none
Substitutions: Bestul for Obangui (AFA, 60.)

Deucoland finally seemed to make good on their potential as they disposed of the very repectable Afrazureans.  The ball just seemed to want to go Deucoland's way
all day, with two lucky breaks resulting both in goals for the Gargoyles, who also managed to withstand two post-hits and one missed penalty from Afrazure in the
first half alone, which stayed without any goals.  The Melanians seemed physically superior, but could not follow up with enough technical finesse, and lacked the
execution and, today certainly also, luck to hold off the Deucos, who still showed some good stuff, but win perhaps too high 3-0, and move on to face Namuria next in
the first round of the main tourney!
