Match commentary:

Christiana takes the group victory to the delight of King & fans!

Here we had another game that has been hyped up, especially in the
Christiana media - it is safe to say that football fever has firmly
gripped Christiana.  Within a few months, it has become a major sport,
going from the mere hobby of the King, to the pastime of a nation!

Westermarc today brought on their "B" lineup, which held up remarkably
well.  However, Christiana was very serious to win, and ultimately they
did, with another good goal from Monaigh, who has taken over the spot of
CHR's top scorer from Harrison, who held that destinction during WHCON.

Christiana was always a little better in control, and overall certainly
the stronger team which deserved to win.  However, the Westermarc
reserves played very clever, and were able to mostly keep up, even
threaten with several good chances.

Ultimately it was the tuned squad of the Knights, though, who came away
with the win, to the great delight of the home fans, and HM the King,
their biggest fan!  It was certainly expected for CHR to advance to the
next round, and that they won the group can be seen as an additional
bonus.  They will now face Solelhada in round 2, while Westermarc goes
up against perfect 3-0 Northern Gronk!

Match commentary:

Ordland finally wins, but had to sweat until the end!

In another match that will not really affect the outcome of this cup
anymore, Ordland finally got their first win of this cup over Lamb's
Cove - but the Dukes, the amazing amateur squad, again were able to keep
up surprisingly well, and the game was in the balance until the last few
minutes, when Castanheira completed an incredible hattrick for the final
goal and the win!

Lamb's Cove, a merry amalgamation of soccer- and non-soccer athletes
from various leagues had come to this cup with little expectations,
except to have some fun, but indeed, they did much more than that!
Despite losing all 3 games, the Covians can take a lot of positives from
this cip, and with the publicity their stint created, soccer is bound to
become more popular in LC, and thus, their team should be much improved
in the future.

Ordland got their redemption, finally.  After the nailbiter loss to
Christiana, a game which they might have well won, and the heavy loss
vs. Westermarc, this was some balsam on their wounds.  Although they
surely would have liked a much clearer and faster victory over the
amateurs, it was nevertheless a win, and the Arrows showed some very
good play in the process.  Castanheira obviously was a standout today,
with all three goals.  Surely he will receive a hero's welcome in
Ordland!

Both teams leave the competition now.  Lambs Cove's only woman in the
Vexillium Cup, Cheryl Butler, unfortunately did not score a goal, which
no doubt would have made big headlines, but there is always next time!

Match commentary:

Acarina finally wins one with early goal!

In yet another match that would not influence the outcome of the Cup
anymore, two time losers Acarina and Wwww met today in Royal Pines.
Wwww performed another non-physical game without fouls, and relied on
their technical and mental skills to participate in the game.  Wwww was
not particularly threatening in this match, as far as offensive play,
but they stuck to their game, and came away with little damage.

Acarina was quite determined to at least win this match, and they did
what they had to, although at times there was some frustration with the
strange play of Wwww.  Kutraktraknat scored for Acarina in the early
going, and from there they held on for the narrow, yet deserved win.
Their defensive zone play kept Wwww well in check, never really
jeopardizing their win.  Akatkat provided the necessary incentives in
the midfield, and assisted on the only goal.

For Wwww, Tipulura showed some especially good form today, that may get
the interest of some club team observers.

For both teams, it is goodbye from the Cup, not unexpectedly, since they
were grouped with the very strong Islandia and Lexicon.
