Match commentary:
Shift in fortunes gives Ancalda the sweet revenge victory!
Talk about two rivals! Never mind the explosive political situation
involving these two nations, but after the sensational and humiliating
5-0 win by Coceira on Ancaldan soil, the press and fans could not get
enough of this topic, and the rematch today was highly anticipated!
Most people expected Coceira to win again, based on the miserable
performances of Ancalda, and the great record of Coceira - however,
things sure came out a surprise, as so many times in this silly game!
Coceira was well-prepared and organized as usual, and in clear control
of the game in the starting phases. Nobody was thus surprised
when
Meridion brought them ahead in the 30. minute by head - everything
was
as expected. However, the teamwork between S. Gore and V. Rek
today
seemed a bit off - rumors had it that they had been in a bit of a fight
before the game, but that was never confirmed. In any case, their
usual
synergy was absent, and the COC offense suffered from it!
When Leikociv evened out shortly before halftime, nobody seemed too
worried, including the Coceiran team. It was a somewhat lucky
goal,
resulting from a misunderstanding between goalie Miroslav and J. Rek,
and Leikovic somehow managed to bunt the ball into the goal, between
about six pairs of legs!
However, the goal gave Ancalda some lift, and after the break, they
were
a changed team! They had shown some good stuff before, but always
when
it was too late to do them any good. Not this time. The
second half
belonged to them, and they picked up where they left off with their
win
over Niokolo Koba the other day! Weyland and Leikovic, together
with
Berencie and Brune now played superbly, and were the backbone for
Ancalda's resurgence. Meanwhile, Coceira was pushed somewhat
into the
defensive, and their offense was not quite greased today anyway.
So in
the 71. minute, Leikovic scored from a free kick after a yellow foul
by
Stranovke, and just before closing, Weyland put the icing on with
another goal, this one after a corner from Brune.
Coceira's typical organization was not evident in the second half.
They
seemed a little surprised by the sudden burst of their opponents, and
could not quite get the game back under control. Despite bringing
in
two more strikers to reinforce the attack, they did not manage to score
in the second half!
The win means that Ancalda will advance as the surprise group champion,
and have to face Eastern Zartania in the next round. Coceira
will go on
to play Whitlam, in an equally difficult assignment.

Match commentary:
Mosquitia does what Coceira should have!
Mosquitian coach Hairindekhed Fazaskontas had a great recipe for todays
game: copy the efficiancy and organized cool playing style of
Coceira,
to achieve their goals, literally! And it indeed worked, however,
in a
strange twist, Coceira today played less "Coceiran" then Mosquitia
did,
and they lost to Ancalda. Meanwhile, Mosquitia had the better
of
Niokolo Koba!
The Kobans had started strong with a win over group champions Ancalda,
but in an effort to throttle back their physical game, which was
successful, it seems to some observers that they also lost a bit of
their "flow" - too worried about NOT to foul, which can be a bad thing
as well. So NK did not particularly impress in their last two
games,
which is a pity, since they had a good chance to advance to the next
round. Their style just seemed cramped after the first game.
Meanwhile, Mosquitia showed some great football, even without two of
their stalwarts. in fact, perhaps the revised lineup works better
than
the original! T'kat'kentok was a brilliant standout in the game,
his
speed carried the Mosquitian offense well, and he was involved in all
but one of their 5 goals, shooting one himself, out of a very fast
counter! Mosuitia was focused, they had the will to win the game.
The
Coceira-Ancalda game was going on at the same time, but at the request
of the Mosquitian team, no scores were announced in the stadium, so
it
would not detract from their task at hand, which of course was to
advance with a win, assuming that Coceira would do their part.
One
wonders how the game might have played out, had they known that Coceira
was losing!
It was sad to see, the Mosquitian team's joy at the end of the game
at
their great win, which they thought had fulfilled thair requirements
to
advance, only to see them crushed a few seconds later, as the result
of
the other game was announced, and they fell to the ground in anguish
and
disappointment! In this game, nobody ultimately was happy in
the end,
but after a few heartwrenching minutes, team Mosquitia collected itself,
and took a lap in the stadium to appreciate their fans (especially
the
girls probably), and to be appreciated for their great efforts today.
Both teams are now out of the cup, but both come away with a victory
each in this most contested of all groups. It may have been the
easiest
one, but the competition we saw in group F was some of the best and
most
interesting!
