The BWA extends its greetings to the nations of Vexillium, in the
name
of all Westrian people!
With Westria being a neutral nation, the BWA has pondered the status
of
our defense forces and military for quite some time. On one
hand, our
neutrality should guarantee us the freedom of no attacks from other
nations. On the other hand, mad leaders of various nations
have made
irrational decisions which seriously compromised the security of
neutral
nations, and even completely disregarded their neutral status
altogether.
Furthermore, Westria is not interested in expending large sums of
money
on an extensive military force. These funds can be put to
much better
use in education, medicine, social services, etc. The solution
we have
arrived at, seems to be a good one:
Westria has already had in operation a vast fleet of coast-guard
cruisers (some of which were dispatched to rescue efforts in Elmira).
These cruisers are a relatively inexpensive way of patrolling the
shores
of Westria and ensureing the basic safety thereof, as well as preventing
smuggling and other illegal activity or immigration. However,
these
vessels, which are under the command and jurisdiction of the Westrian
High Admiralty (WHA), are not necessarily suitable for engaging
attacking warships and armed vessels of other nations in direct
combat.
Neither did Westria have very effective means of protecting its
airspace.
Until now, that is:
The Westrian Defense Ministry, The Westrian High Admiralty, and
Klagstein Defense Technologies and -Aerospace have collaborated
to
create two new highly effecive means of protecting Westria and
Westermarc from attacking intruders:
A Mach-3 attack jet, the Klagstein F-1 "Banshee" Interceptor, the
most
advanced fighter aircraft of our time, and the Klagstein U-1
"Sea-Urchin" Attack Submarine. Both craft are maximized for
intercepting intruders into Westrian air or sea space, are capable
of
running under complete stealth, and set new standards for speed,
agility
and firepower in their respective classes.
The Westrian Defense Ministry has focused on these two craft, because
together with the coast guard cruisers, they provide a cost-effective
way of defending the Westrian realm, without allocating an exreaordinant
amount of funds for weaponry. Westria has no use for offensive
weapons,
such as bombers, missiles, aircraft carriers, spy satellites, nuclear
explosives, or the like, and such weapons will not ever be produced
or
used by Westria.
For obvious reasons, we can not release any details or images of
the
mentioned craft, but we want to inform the nations of Vexillium
that
they exist. Please also take note that Westria will be the
exclusive
owner and user of these weapons. Our neutral status and constitution
prohibits any trade of defense technology or weapons to another
nation.
Furthermore, since the technology is classified at this time, it
would
not be possible for other nations to receive it.
The BWA wishes to stress that any and all of the above mentioned
weapons
are designed solely for the defense of Westria and Westermarc in
the
event of an attack by another nation. Never will Westria
engage in an
attack upon any other nation.
